About Us

ARTTA Trading Inc. is a small business Canadian importer, retail and wholesale supplier of PALO SANTO products that are 100% natural, sustainably obtained, and ethically sourced from the dry tropical forests of Ecuador.

The products we import derive only from Bursera Graveolens wood that is FOUND laying on the forest ground, years after having a natural death - no trees are ever cut down. To ascertain this, we only collaborate with small business suppliers who provide us with full transparency on their processes.

The sale of our products also allows us to give back.

In conjunction with our suppliers, our sales allow us to support local Palo Santo reforestation programs. We are thankful to have become part of such projects as of August 2021, and we intend to keep supporting this initiative as we advance.

Through our purchases, our business also supports farmers and artisans for whom the sale of sustainable Palo Santo goods provides a living income source. Our transactions contribute to local economies both in Canada and in small Ecuadorean towns.

The quality we bring you is a testament to how we source our products. At ARTTA, ethics and sustainability are standard, not optional.

How ARTTA Started

ARTTA Trading started as a dream.

A dream of a boy born in a bamboo house located in the outskirts of a small town known as El Carmen, in Manabi, Ecuador.

A dream of a pre-teenager who moved to Canada in 1997, leaving much behind him to have more opportunities but never losing touch with his mother, family, friends, land, and culture as he grew up.

A dream of a teenager who visited Ecuador every year, becoming more captivated by his roots as he learned more about them.

A dream of a young man who witnessed the challenges faced by hard-working families on a land rich in natural resources.

A dream of a man who never seized to admire the people's resourcefulness, resiliency, and skill in his native land.

A dream of a father who introduced his children to the land that gave birth to him, becoming charmed as he watched them embrace it with love and pride.

A dream of a visionary who realizes there is more he can do to bridge his native country, land, farmers, artisans, and small businesses, with Canada - the land that adopted him as a young child.

A dream of a student who graduated in International Business and became certified as a Canada Customs Specialist while working in freight forwarding to prepare himself for this journey.

A dream of a business owner who is determined to set the foundation for an entity that drives itself on ethics and sustainability before profit - a company where giving back to the environment, clients, and other small businesses remains more vital than taking from them.

ARTTA is a dream. The dream of a human who never wants to forget where he comes from and now aims to synergize resources across borders, ethically and sustainably.

My name is Oswaldo Arteaga, founder and director of ARTTA Trading Inc., and this is my dream put into action.
